About.
Hi! My name is Abigail Hayman. Welcome to my blog.
I look forward to sharing my love of composition, writing, and reading in my blog. Currently, I am enrolled in Kennesaw State University's Master of Arts in Professional Writing Program. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations over the summer, and started my first semester for the MAPW program last fall.
I have always loved writing, and have embraced it in its many forms: as a public relations major; writing press releases, news releases, research proposals, crisis communication plans, and crafting emergency personnel materials, and also as a professional writing minor; writing novels, poems, and all things creative.
Writing has always been a huge part of my life. I have always loved teaching, and have worked in pre-school and elementary school as a teacher's aid. Alongside teachers, I have taught children how to develop their writing, helped students with learning disabilities, and found ways to embrace creativity in the classroom.
It wasn't until this year, though, that I began working at the Writing Center, and, over time, I realized that I had a heart for college education. Throughout my studies, I plan on reading more about writing and how it works as a discipline and a study. My goal is to expand my knowledge, find ways to engage in the classroom, encourage diversity, offer a safe classroom environment, and help to accommodate and speak up for my students with learning disabilities. I am glad that our university encourages acceptance and understanding of people with learning disabilities, including myself.
I will forever be grateful for Kennesaw State University's Student Disability Services Program and for all that they have done for me, and for what they will do for many of my future students as well. Without them, I wouldn't have had the tools for success that I needed to succeed in my classroom. I hope to offer my students those same tools so that they can be successful young adults when they graduate. I am excited for this upcoming year and look forward to creating and generating customized content for my future classrooms.
I also enjoy storytelling, working for Public Relations, non-profit work, digital marketing, and graphic design. I also love reading and spending too much money at Target.
